Nestled within the vibrant Pelita Commercial Centre in Miri, Sarawak, New 88 Cafe stands out as a delightful culinary hotspot that captures the essence of Malaysian cafe culture. This charming eatery embodies a typical 'kopi tiam' atmosphere, offering a warm and inviting space where locals gather to enjoy affordable yet delicious hawker-style fare.

As you step inside, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the tantalizing scents of various dishes, instantly whetting your appetite. New 88 Cafe is particularly renowned for its Kolo Mee, a dish that has garnered praise from regulars like Reymond Jantan, who exclaimed, "Superb!!!" when describing this savory noodle offering. The texture is perfectly springy, glistening under a light coating of soy sauce, and typically served with tender meat and crispy shallots, making it a must-try for any visitor.

If you’re in the mood for something a little different, don't miss the Fen Gan Goreng from the Foo Chow stall, which Jason Lau noted as "underrated." This dish features mouthwatering fried noodles, sweet, and savory, with a delightful crunch that pairs beautifully with its accompanying sauce.

The cafe also offers a selection of delightful Kuih, which Gloria Joe praises for being fresh and delicious, though she noted a slight inconsistency with her dried mee hoon. It's worth tasting the kuih here for their rich flavors and beautiful presentations, and rest assured, the staff is friendly and eager to help you navigate the extensive menu.

For those looking for a hearty breakfast, Luke Chong's recommendation of the Wet Fried Kui Tiaw is a revelation. With an abundance of prawns, pork, liver, and vegetables enveloped in a deliciously spicy belachan sauce, this dish promises satisfaction with every bite. It truly encapsulates the vibrant flavors of Malaysian cuisine.

New 88 Cafe proves to be an excellent spot for anyone seeking a taste of local dishes in a laid-back setting. Whether you're a resident or a traveler, the combination of quality food, friendly service, and a cozy ambiance makes it a perfect pit stop to fuel your adventures in Miri. So, grab a seat, order your favorites, and immerse yourself in the rich culinary tapestry that is Malaysia!

I like to eat fresh and delicious kuih here, only my dried mee hoon today is too dry and tastes bland too. I will come again to try other foods here.

Satisfactory breakfast of Susu c kosong - pure milk without sugar - and wet fried kui tiaw & kolo Kui tiaw. All yummy! Wet fried kui tiaw was exceptionally delicious with the accompanying spicy belachan. Adequately prawn shrimps, pork, liver & veggies included. Certainly coming back
